No More Pity Parties
Have you guys seen this crap? I went to Pinterest today to see if I could find some inspiring single mom quotes to share. I love a good inspirational quote or meme. Most of what I found was junk like this.
Being a single mom, heck, being a PERSON is hard enough without entertaining these types of thoughts. I've been there, in that place where you wanted to feel sorry for yourself or get super angry with your kid's dad. When what you need is inspiration and positivity, maybe a pat on the back for doing such a great job, instead you find this junk and sink into some sort of depression where you feel like your life sucks and I guess we should just be happy to sort of get by?
No. No. No. No. Turn off those thoughts. You were not "made for a man" and your kids are not living some sort of half life because you don't have one. They have YOU, and you are all living a very full REAL life right now, and they need you to be dancing around the living room to Justin Timberlake (I'm talking the Trolls soundtrack, of course), not curled up with a glass of wine feeling sorry for yourself and your kids.
Turn that junk off and go find something that's actually inspiring. Crank up some music, roll down the windows, dance around the kitchen while you fix mac and cheese. Whatever it takes, because it's a beautiful life and you're all gonna be just fine.
