Cash's Bey-versary

7 years ago Cash begged for and received his very first Beyblade. Don’t feel bad if you don’t know what that is, I had definitely never heard of it either. It’s a toy, based off of a Japanese anime show. I’m not actually sure exactly how Cash was drawn into anime, it’s definitely not my cup of tea. I think he found it on Netflix one day and was all in.

So he asked, and I bought him this toy that says it was recommended for children 8 and up (he was 3). With the help of a few other adults, we figured out how to put it together and get it working. He now owns over 100 beys, at least 10 bey stadiums, and lots of other accessories. He’s made many videos, and has participated in thousands of battles. He has worked with his great-grandfather to build his own stadiums and even a bey. One year we threw a big tournament with all of his friends for his birthday. Because this has been his “thing” for so long, a year or two ago, we decided to start celebrating the day he got his first bey as his “Bey-versary.” Making up holidays and celebrating them excessively is one of our favorite family traditions.

This morning, I woke him up with his favorite “treat” breakfast…a maple bacon donut from Donut King. I lit a candle and sang him “Happy Bey-versary!” Today after work, he gets to go to Target and pick out a new one for his collection.

In honor of this great day, I wanted to share some photos through the years. I also have a video of him that very first night, shooting beyblades and talking trash to me in his cute little toddler voice, but alas have been forbidden to post it because he’s in his undies. I do have permission to send it to “family only” so if you qualify, shoot me a text, and I’ll send it your way.

If you’re interested in watching any of his videos (of which we’ll be adding more soon!) check out his YouTube channel here.

Enjoy!
