Rachel Hollis, Inspector Gamache, and Peter Rabbit
Hey there, and welcome! This is where I will be logging in every week and telling you what's got me excited this week. I'll talk about books, podcasts, music, websites...basically anything that inspires me. I'm always forever looking for recommendations on all of those things, so I thought that you all might like to see what I think is awesome too.
This week at the top of my list is Rachel Hollis of the Chic Site. Her new book Girl, Wash Your Face, inspired me to start this website. Her podcast, Dais is wonderful. I follow her on Instagram and can't get enough of her updates. She has a super adorable spunky personality, and has been a serious inspiration for me lately to reevaluate a lot of how I see the world. I'm learning about goal setting and lies that I didn't realize I believed about myself and the world, and you guys, just go check her out.
I have been reading Louise Penny's Inspector Gamache series since before Christmas, and I'm almost finished. I have enjoyed this series so much. It's about a homicide inspector in Canada. Here are the reasons I've enjoyed this series, in no particular order:
You can tell the author is a bit of a foodie, because she always mentions what they are eating for breakfast, and it always sounds super delicious.
It's got the mystery aspect to it, but even though it's about murder, and has some very sad stories, it is not depressing or dark. Through everything, the main character keeps his joy and contentment, and love for his family. It inspired me to keep finding the joy in life.
The town of Three Pines and the cast of characters who live there are absolutely delightful.
I don't see very many movies unless they are kid's movies. Some of them are super great, some I'm very much just there for Cash's enjoyment. I took him to the AMC Dine In Theater at Disney Springs this weekend for the first time to see Peter Rabbit. Let me start off by saying, that theater is soooooo cool. I ate a hamburger (and it was delicious) while I watched a movie. If I was thirsty and my drink was low, all I had to do was push a button. It rocked. That being said, I didn't know if the movie was really going to be very good or not. The previews looked okay, but I wasn't expecting much. Maybe that's why I was so delighted when it had me and Cash both laughing until we had trouble breathing in a few parts. The dialogue was super witty, and for a random kids movie that I wasn't sure about going in, I was super thrilled with the experience. At the very least, you should rent it when it comes out on video.
