Life Updates: Reeling in Fun, Furry Friends, and Summer Shenanigans!

Hey fam, long time no see! I had temporarily decided to let this part of the website flicker out for a bit, but I’ve decided to revive it. As much as I love discussing Disney and Universal and the fun theme park stuff, I miss talking about the rest of our lives too! So I’m back.

What have I been up to lately?

I have been having so much fun working on possible extra income streams. A big part of that is optimizing this blog's SEO (so people besides my mom know it exists). I’ve been working on posting more helpful content to the blog here and on social media. I learned to make a Reel. Well, to use the past tense might be a little optimistic. I’m learning how to make Reels. Even for someone who used to make videos for a living, sometimes keeping up with tech is rough. Lol. But it is also a lot of fun, and I’m pressing on.

I’m an Amazon Influencer now, which is super fun. It’s a precarious way to make a living because I know they could change the whole business model at any time, but it’s been an enjoyable way to make some side money for things like car repairs. And so far, they’ve been very generous and great to work with. Plus, I’ve been a Prime member for at least 15 years, and they produced my favorite TV show after Gilmore Girls (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), so promoting their service is not difficult for me.

How’s Cash?

Cash is a TEENAGER now, but thankfully still a) likes hanging out with me, b) is totally up for going along with all of my shenanigans, and c) doesn’t mind if I talk or post about him in public, which means, of course, that I have the most fantastic teenager that ever was. He’s still making me laugh regularly. He’s upped his game (literally) after he beat Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in about a week (and that was pacing himself). He bought Elden Ring a couple of weeks ago and has finally found a game that challenges him.

He has a regular pet-sitting job and picks up extra duties as neighbors take trips out of town. A few weeks ago, he showed a super impressive work ethic when he got hired to paint Chris and Anna’s boat dock. He loves our pets and has trained Reggi to do many fun things. I suspect that Reggi is starting to like him more, which I’ll have to do something about. Lol. He’s learning how to drive Chris’s various watercraft and hopes to get his boating license when he turns 14 (later this year!).

We are still homeschooling, and we both are thrilled. We love the flexibility, and Cash is thriving now that he can learn the way he learns best.

How are the pets?

Well, there are more of them now. We have been “fostering” a kitten found in our neighborhood for a few weeks (12) now. So while we haven’t bought her a collar with her name on it yet, she’s ours. Turbo HATES her, so she primarily lives in my office. She has a blast getting one-on-one attention while I’m working and has a pretty sweet setup- robot litterbox- and all. Dagney is jealous and uses it every time she can sneak in. Reggi loves her, and Dagney is ambivalent toward her as long as she doesn’t jump on her.

Her name is Mewtwo (after the Pokemon), but I call her Mew mostly, for short. She lives up to her name and is fairly vocal.

What else?

We are enjoying summer! We’ve been spending a lot of time at Chris and Anna’s. Their son is three-almost-four now and leads us on all sorts of adventures. My garden this year is starting slowly, but I hope to have some zucchini, tomatoes, and yellow squash soon. The peppers are already coming in. We are enjoying the water park aspect of our Disney passes, even though Typhoon Lagoon is less superior to Blizzard Beach in every way but the wave pool- which I hate and Cash loves.

That’s probably enough of an update for now. I’m working on a longer article that I may or may not post that dives deeper into some religious deconstruction I’m doing- I’d like to start adding posts that go a little deeper along with our updates. So stay tuned. Until then- stay cool, and have a great summer!
